In marriage, every believer is believed to be a child of God and as such, every believer is believed to be worthy of marriage.
but we all know that not all that says lord, the lord is of the Lord. No matter their confession.
They just might not have the right conviction yet for their true confession.
Now the question is how then do we know who to marry among the believers?
Just when I was beginning to ponder on this, a step-by-step process to a workable marriage was painted in my heart.
And it says that before going to stand before that congregation and asking the pastor to wed the both of you, try to first wed yourselves in secrete before each other by asking to know if the both of you are ready to take each other as husband and as a wife.
As a lady try asking him if he is ready to love you and to care for you in health and sickness till death do you both apart.
As a man try asking her if she is ready to respect and care for you as her head, her master, and her husband till death do you both apart?
As a lady try asking him if he will be ready to love you as he loves himself and to do for you whatever he does for himself till death do you both apart.
As a man, try asking her if she will be ready to submit to you as her husband till death do you both apart.
Then try asking each other if you are ready to accept each other for who you both are and for what you both stand for in life till death do you both apart.
Try asking yourselves if you accept each other’s beliefs about God, life, family, and church.
Most of all, both of you must be a born-again Christian.
Until these questions are answered correctly to both of your satisfaction, you both are not compatible for marriage.
Until this is done, it is an error going before the congregation in public and asking pastors to wed the both of you in public where the both of you may not be able to make a refusal anymore.
This to me is the first step to a Godly wedding.
The vow should be taken in the secrete before the open vow.
This to me should be the best definition of what we called engagement before the open wedding.
If the person tries to change after accepting this vow, always remind them of their oath of the word you both took in the secrete.
For what is done in the secrete is more powerful than in the open.
If this is done correctly it will help to reduce all kinds of broken homes and broken marriages in the world today where many are wishing they didn’t marry that person they got married to.
