the shadow love

Tithe and offering were a symbolic communication of love in both the old and the new testament.

It was about caring for others as you would have others care for you.

It wasn’t about just giving for the sake of giving. Neither was it about just giving for the sake of the fear of God or the law and its punishment. No, It’s wasn’t about any of those. Rather it was about the love for others.

When you expand all the laws of giving and offerings in the old testament you will find one thing hidden in all of them and that is love.

It was like the wrapped-up treasure in a parcel that needed to be unravelled; love

For instance, there were three kinds of the tithe. In the old testament.

  1. They are about giving to the priest.
  2. Giving to the needy; to the window, to the fatherless, to the strangers, etc.
  3. And the last one was to be eating as a portion with your family and your neighbours which is a symbolic representation of love.

When you look at all the offerings in the old testament and the Passover, you will also come to discover that they were all symbolic representations of the love of God in expression.

It was about either giving to help others or giving to fellowship with others.

It is why the Bible will say God love a cheerful giver._2corinthian 9:7
This is so because giving itself is an act of love and God himself is love.

The truth is you can’t love God and not give. That wouldn’t be a genius love for God.

One of the ways to show God’s love is by giving.

For it is said that “for God so love the world and he gave his only begotten son….” John 3:16

This shows us that God also showed his love to us through giving.
As a believer, we must learn to love through our giving to the body of christ, to the priest, go the mission work and to the world at large.

Tithe and offering were a symbolic communication of love in both the old and the new testament. It was about caring for others as you would have others care for you. It wasn’t about just giving for the sake of giving. Neither was it about just giving for the sake of the fear of God…
