There was a time in my life when parables were what God used to teach me about the things of the kingdom and the spirit before I could understand his teachings.
At that time in my life, my heart was always filled with all kinds of parables and everyday life stories of various kinds.
As time went by, they all ceased coming. I was no longer seeing insight into some spiritual truth through parables and stories anymore. As such, when I pick up my Bible to study, the true understanding just comes without any use of parables to explain further before I can understand by reading the Bible within the context of the writer.
When this began to happen, I knew God was telling me that I had come of age with the things of the spirit.
This became affirmed when one day while in Abuja I slept and had a scripture laid up in my heart in a dream. And when I woke up, I saw my Bible open to that same Bible verse on my bed.
It was the book of Hebrew 5:12 which says for when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye still have need that one teach you again which is the first principle of the oracle of God, and are become such as still need milk, and not of strong meat.
I understood God was telling me that instead of me to still keep seeking to be fed with milk, 
shouldn’t I be the one teaching others the same thing I have come to understand over the years with my walk with him?
From that day onward, I began to write to others, those same things I have come to learn over time with God.
The truth is as a believer, we must learn to understand the difference between milk and meat. We should know the difference between the parable teaching of Jesus Christ and the meaning of those teachings.
We should be able to understand the symbolic teachings of God to the children of Israel from the message that was hidden in those symbolic practices.
We should understand that the reason some of the parables and symbolic practices were used in the Bible to teach the people was as a result of the fact that they could not understand the things of the spirit then just like how I was before.
As a believer and as a teacher of the gospel, if we still keep practising all those parable teachings and symbolic practices of the children of Israel in the wilderness on their way to the land of promise (in christ) even when the promise has already come, it simply would means that we are not growing in faith.
It simply means that we are still like babes taking milk instead of us to be taking the true meat of the word and as well teaching others the same sincere milk of the word.
The truth is growing in faith has nothing to do with how long we have been preaching in church. Instead, it has everything to do with how well we quite understand the message of the scripture to be able to communicate the same message to the people.
As a believer and as a good teacher of the gospel, before we can keep to any of the shadow practices of any of the law and the Old Testament practices, we should be sure to understand the message that was communicated with such a practice before going ahead to keep to its practices.
Until we understand the message that God was trying to communicate in those parables and symbolic practices, we may never truly know if we need to keep doing such practices in the era of the new creation believers or not.
As a true preacher of the gospel, we are called to communicate the true message of the gospel to the people.
We are called to unveil or unwrap them in every one of those parables and symbolic teachings of Jesus to the people.
Anything less than this means we are not doing due justice to the word.
