HAVE YOU BECOME POOR SO THAT OTHERS TOO CAN BECOME RICH
“He became poor so that we can become rich”
In 2012 while in the united state of America, I wanted to leave the united state of America to come back to Nigeria, many were calling me all sorts of names. Some even went as far as saying that I am a fool.
They complained that how can I leave all the luxurious lives in the united state of America to come back to live in Nigeria where nothing is working without making any money yet.
Some even said maybe my village people were in my case.
Many connived with my parent to give me a reason not to return home.
So calls began to come from every side.
Amid their yearnings and callings, purpose started calling also.
This is that which was bigger than my self-pursuit of comfort in the united state.
The mission to come back home and reform the mind of my people became my most priority.
So when purpose started calling I just couldn’t abandon the need to answer the call of God to the people.
If I had remained there, I wouldn’t be writing to reform the mind today because the interest there would have been just to make money.
With the help of God, I was able to fight every outer voice that was opposing the inner voice in me.
In the end, I returned home to my people and my father’s land even though I haven’t made any money back then in the united state.
Although a time came that I wanted to return to the same united state I just left. especially when the going became tough back in Nigeria. But whenever I tried planning my return mission, there was always this inner voice that didn’t settle well with me going back, so I decided to stay back finally to face the single purpose to which I was called to reform the mind of the people.
So I deserted the idea of just staying back in New York and making money to come back to reform the mind of the people so that they can know who they are and come to their rest in God.
So I became poor so that the people and my followers today can become rich in the word of life towards God.
So that they will no longer be poor in the word of knowledge. And so that they can be free to live the right life of abundance in this world.
So the Bible said, “He became poor so that we can become rich.”
What does this word mean to us and how did Jesus ever become poor so that we can become rich?
Was he even ever poor and are we even rich now?
Have you ever thought to know what that word means?
If not, let’s take a look at how Jesus was poor so that we can be rich in life.
The Bible in the book of Matthew 4:8-11 made us understand that after Jesus fasted for 40 days and forty nights, the devil came to TEMPT him by making him so many offers that would have made him the richest man in this world and he refuses them all.
That single offer of “bow down and worship me and I will give you the whole cities of the world 
” would have done the whole thing for him.
He would have become the richest man in the world and we would have become poor to God in life.
But he refuses those offers so that you and I can become rich in this life and in any area of our lives we so desire today.
At the same time in the middle of his ministry, there was a time when the people wanted to make him the king of Israel after feeding the people with miraculous bread and fishes and after seeing all that he could do ~john6:14-15
We were told that he ran away from the people.
He ran away from the pleasure of this world to become poor and to be beaten like a common thief on the street of Jerusalem so that you and I can be rich in this life.
I guess we can now understand why Jesus would have to refuse every offer from the devil and the people to make him rich.
It was so that you and I can become rich in every aspect of our life.
And we are already rich in every area of our life as a believer today, we just don’t know it yet. And that is why Apostle Paul has to put clearly to the people in the book of 1corinthians 3 that says;
3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s;3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your’s;
3:23 and ye are Christ and Christ is God.
The truth is we can only see everything he has done to our riches only when we look from the finished work of Christ to receiving what Christ has done for us.
So Jesus ran away from the timely pleasure to fulfilling the mission of a greater goal.
The mission of setting you and I free from the bondage of the enemy.
So the Bible said he became poor so that we can become rich.
Have you ever also become poor so that others can ever be rich too before?
Have you ever had to sacrifice for others to live and become rich in life?
Because we are supposed to live the same life Jesus lives on earth.
We are supposed to live a life of sacrifice to others.
This is what a purpose journey is all about.
Did you also remember the case of mosses in the Bible, of how they wanted to make him a king in Egypt and how he ran away to go join his Jewish people who were suffering as a slave in Egypt?
That we may know that the journey of purpose is a journey of sacrifice unto the people.
Until we have sacrificed for the people to become rich in this life, we are not yet ready for the purpose journey in life.
Just as no object of our creation in this world Is ever created to serve itself, so also none of us in this world is created to serve ourselves in our purpose journey in this life.
In all of this, it is never easy to fulfil the will of our creator at the expense of our own will and comfort in life. But with the help of God, nothing is impossible.
Jesus has to pray to the father and he said “father if it is possible for this cup to pass me by let it pass me by. But not my will…. but you will be done Lord” ~mathew 26-39
This was the prayer of Jesus.
In the end, after he had finished drinking the cup of suffering he said to the father “glorify me with the glory that I had with you in the beginning.” ~ John 17:5
The truth is for every sacrifice we made to the people for the father’s sake, there is always a greater glory to receive from the father at the end.
So are you ready to become poor for others to be rich too?
Are you ready to live a life of purpose in this life?
Are you ready to live a life of sacrifices for others to become rich too?
If yes.
Take it to God in prayer.
Because every purposeful life has everything you do with a sacrificial life for the people and not for yourself.
