As a preacher of the gospel, We must learn to always preach Christ as the gospel, other than just using christ as an example in our day-to-day message.
You must learn to always preach Christ above all things and self-righteousness.
Shortly I will tell us why and the danger of another message in the name of Christ.
The truth is Jesus is a message on its own needed to be preached and to be received by the people. He is not just a pattern to be used as an example as though quoting another writer in a new book.
He is the whole message in the entire Bible.
Before using Jesus as an example in your teachings, you need to first receive Jesus into your heart as your lord.
You need to first daily feed on him as the message. And as well swear your allegiance to him to be his witness and his preacher.
He must be your message to the people as a preacher before using him as an example to the people.
Someone once told me that Jesus was a good man and that he live a good life worthy of emulation.
He went on to say he has learned a few things from Jesus as a good guy. But that he too also has his own life to live outside Jesus, just like Jesus Christ did live his own life too.
The young man said he mustn’t live the same life Jesus Christ lives in today’s world. That there are a few things he will have to learn from Jesus to also live his own good life to also make his own heaven.
To this young man, all he needed to do is to just live a good life and learn a few things from Jesus to also go to heaven.
Now we can see what another gospel in the Church of Christ can do to people.
On hearing this, I knew at once that this guy is not saved yet even though he always made mention of Jesus in his speech.
Then I ask the young man if he is a Christian. I asked him if he is born again.
He said no.
He said there is no need for all that. That all that matters is to just live a good life knowing the good things and doing them.
While this is a brother who usually fellowship in of the biggest church denomination in Nigeria before moving to another city.
Over the years, things have changed and many don’t seem to know.
The question we should be asking ourselves should be, what has this young man been taught all these years in that church where he has fellowship all along?
The young man went ahead to say there is no need for people to become Christians or a believer, born again as many are claiming to be saved by Jesus (to him another man’s life,) before they can go to heaven, when they too can also live their own good life to also be remembered for, to also save themselves to go to the same heaven.
To this man, heaven is a place where every good man who has lived well on earth goes without believing in Christ Jesus as their lord and savour. But when he speaks you will see his speech is always laced with the saying of Jesus.
In the end, I asked him what religion is he now, and he told me he is now a scholar.
Meanwhile, I was beginning to ask myself which one is now a scholar again.
Now, this is the ideology of this young man and so many people out there who think the religious movement is all about living a good life to also go to heaven. You all have seen it now.
He believes that Jesus is just like every other good guy like Nelson Mandela who lived on earth. And that there is no need to be saved by Jesus or by what he did when everyone too can also live their own good life to also be saved to also go to heaven.
This guy believes there is nothing like salvation by Jesus Christ. But every now and then, you will hear him using Jesus as an example for his teachings and if you are not careful, you will think he is a believer in the finished work of Christ Jesus. Or that he is a preacher of the true gospel of Christ Jesus.
In the end, I discover that all he does is select a few quotes from Jesus to buttress his speech even though he didn’t believe in what Jesus totally stood for.
It is the same nature that I see in this young man that I also see in so many preachers on the church pulpit today.
They preach their gospel differently from the gospel of Jesus Christ and use Jesus Christ and other people as an example in their message and then conclude the message by saying in Jesus’ name.
Now that is not the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Such a gospel is like having a coca cola brand on the body of a bottle whereas the true content in the bottle is Ferus drinks.
The message might be good also. It might also be needed for your life growth here on earth as a human, but that is not the gospel of Jesus Christ that is needed to be preached daily in the church of Christ that he said he will build that the gate of hell can not prevail against.
Such a gospel can not stop the raging gate of hell from prevailing over the church just like this friend of mine.
In Such a gospel, Jesus Christ is not the message needed to be taken by people for them to be saved from the gate of hell.
The reason a preacher of such gospel will continue preaching such message in the supposed church of christ is that such a preacher has not received the true message of the gospel in his or her heart themselves. Or that they have been preached to but rejected it in their heart.
They are not a believer in the finished work of christ even though they keep mentioning his name in some of their messages.
These preachers are on the church pulpit as pastors, prophets, apostles and ministers of a gospel that is not of Christ but claiming to be preachers of the gospel.
They might even sometimes mention the finished work of Jesus Christ in their message, and at other times speak of their self-work as another form of salvation.
When you hear such a message run for your dear life.
When you hear such a message, just know that such a person is not fully sold out to Christ.
As a believer in Christ, this is not the kind of message to be feeding on daily.
If all you daily feed on is such a message of another gospel in the name of the true gospel of Christ Jesus in his church, it will bring all kinds of confusion, fear, competition, dissatisfaction, lack, mind corruption, mind deformation and then the destruction of the mind.
If you must grow in Christ, you must be careful of the kind of messages you daily feed on.
As a believer what you need to grow on is the Christocentric meal.
When I say Christocentric meal, I mean the Christ centre message.
Because that is what the entire Bible points to. The Birth, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
You may want to ask if there is anything wrong with using Jesus Christ as an example in our speeches.
The answer is no.
but as a preacher of the gospel on the Christ Church pulpit, who is believed to be sold out to Christ and to be preaching the gospel of Christ, when this other gospel becomes your daily message on the church pulpit, by consistently just using Jesus as an example other than preaching and unveiling the true message of the birth, death, burial and resurrection of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ to the people so that they can know their right in the kingdom, then it simply will show that such a preacher is not fully sold out to the gospel of Jesus Christ but to another gospel that is not of Christ.
Now, this preacher may not even know it until he or she does a quick check on their messages by using the right parameter for measurement to check their messages.
So as a preacher of the gospel
Your mission mostly is to preach the gospel of the birth, death, burial and resurrection of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ, it is to unveil the mystery of the finished work that unveils the true identity of the believers in Christ Jesus.
It is to preach about the unveiling kingdom of God to the people so that they can be conscious of their kingdom right.
This is the true gospel that we have received and we must keep to preaching and as well commit to the hand of faithful men.
The last time I heard from that young man in this write-up, I saw he wrote on his social media wall that in their new religion, there is no such thing as sin unless done outside the consent of the other person.
Now, this is the danger of another gospel. Instead of preaching the message of the true gospel that set free.
