While everyone was busy doing painting of all kinds in a school competition, little john was also busy doing his painting work.
He was the smallest of them all but most likely the smartest of them all.
Little John doesn’t like to stay within the gathering of his fellow students, he always likes to separate himself from the crowd.
So on that very day of the painting competition, instead of him sitting among his colleagues to paint alongside them, he went and sat a distance away from his classmates.
His teacher was busy moving from each of the student painting stands to another, trying to know what they were doing.
On getting to John’s stands, the teacher looks at what John was doing to see if he can understand what the little boy was painting this time, knowing how John always does the extraordinary. But he couldn’t tell what the little boy was painting this time.
So he asked john what was he going to paint today. John looked at his teacher and told the teacher that he is going to paint the face of God.
The teacher looks at john and laughed. Then he asks him what he means by he is going to paint the face of God. He asked him if he has seen God’s face before that he wanted to paint the face of God.
John said yes. The teacher asked john where has he see the face of God before that he wants to paint.
John looked at his teacher and told his teacher to wait that he will see the face of God when he is done painting.
The teacher looked at the boy again and smiled and left hoping to come back to see the little boy’s painting of God’s face.
Finally, the painting competition was over and the teacher quickly went to john’s stand to see the face painting of God by John.
To the teacher’s surprise, John did a very beautiful painting of the teacher smiling.
The teacher looks at it and was pleased with the painting but to him, that was not the face of God, that was his face. So he asked little john where is the face of God he said he wanted to paint, and the little boy pointed to his painting again.
Just while the teacher was about to go, The little boy touches the teacher by his hand and said “sir you are the faces of God.”
The teacher looks at the boy again and became surprised by the sayings of the boy. without saying a word to the boy he left crying knowing the boy has taken his face to be the face of God.
The teacher understood it was because everyone has abandoned the boy with the belief that he was useless due to his disability including his parents. but the teacher saw great potential in the boy’s disability to help bring out the best in the boy.
So while the teacher was going with the boys drawing tears began to drop from his eyes.
What if I tell you that little John wasn’t wrong?
What if I tell you that of a truth, we are the face of God?
What if I tell you that for the fact that we are made in the image of God, we are the true expression of God when we display that image to the world?
We are of the image of the almighty God the creator of heaven and Earth who makes us a god here on earth to represent him.
Just as there are different gods in the universe that represent different elemental gods, there is also the only true God in whose image we were created and made to represent here in this world.
Whenever we express this true image and nature of the almighty God that defines his personality, we are indirectly expressing the very face of God.
We are indirectly portraying the very face of our God.
Just like how a father of a child will say of any of his sons who behaves well as his true son, so also does God sees us when we live according to his law and principles in life.
And just as how a bad child is seen as a product of a bad father? So also does the world judge our God by our actions in the world when we call ourselves the children of God and yet live a life different from that of God.
Would you want people to see you and begin to think of your God as a bad God?
Or would you want people to see you and want to know your God through your action?
Which would you prefer?
In life, How would you want people to describe your God through you and the life you live today?
We must learn to live the life that portrays the image of our God we claim to carry to the world else we will be portraying a wrong image of our God.
