The scale of preference

T

While in school we were taught the scale of preference.

As a student boy then, I would wonder why were they teaching us all those things. I would want to think that such topics are not important in life.

But as a grown-up man with more responsibility to handle, you will come to understand that not everything calling out to you needs your attention at that moment.

Over time I have come to understand that life is not all about satisfaction and meeting all our needs in life. instead, life is all about playing the game of balance.

It is about doing the thing that still keeps you standing after they are done.

It is not about doing everything and anything your heart set out to do in one day that might end up crashing or crippling you in life.

Everyone in one way or another other comes at a time to experience the need to put up things in the other of preference or the other of most paramount importance in life If they must succeed in life. It is what is called the scale of preference.

The truth is you can’t always have it all. Not even the richest man in this world has it all.

There will always be something that is most important in life to you that you will always like to achieve first before another.

And if you ignore those things first for the less important ones, you might end up shooting yourself in the leg.

No matter how rich you might think you are, there will always be something you can’t acquire in life.

There will always be so many things to desire in life that your money can’t buy at one point in time.

And the fact that you want them shouldn’t be the reason to go for all of them at the same time. Because life doesn’t play on meeting all your needs at once.

Instead, life is dependent on how well you can balance the scale of your give and receive in life.

If you would want to fulfil your purpose in life, to become successful in life, you must learn to do that which is intentional, that which you were designed to do towards living a successful life in this world.

You must learn to know how to place things in their scale of preferences else you will be out of preference in this life.

So it is said that “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient:……..” 1corinthians 6:12

In as much as everything is lawful in life, not everything is worth our attention in life.

So we must give our attention to those things that are worth our attention in life.
